Welcome to my digital corner. I’m an anthropologist who writes about culture, travel, tech and business. If you’re looking for the other me, the side that does consumer insights/UX research, I still do that stuff too. But this site is devoted to my world of writing and getting back to my roots as an ethnographer of all things beautiful, strange, silly and urgent.
I am a regular contributor to Hawaii Business Magazine, AFAR and Matador Network, and am the author of Consumption in China: How China’s new consumer ideology is shaping the nation.
Nowadays, I split my time between Hawai’i Island, my adopted home, and San Francisco, the place that raised me and shaped me. I have also left a big chunk of my vital organs in New Orleans.
I would love to hear from you.
